After Action Report
Operation: Goblin Market
Vessel/Unit: USS Terminus, NCC-42063 (Shore Detail)
Location: Goblin Market
Stardate: [STARDATE] (March 28, 2026)
Reporting Officer: Ensign 'Bug', USS Terminus
The away team was dispatched to the Goblin Market with the following primary objectives:
- Establish first contact and diplomatic relations with local goblin population
- Survey and catalog available trade goods using replicated local currency
- Acquire biological specimens for exo-marine biology study
- Assess nutritional safety of local foodstuffs
All primary objectives were completed successfully.
The following Terminus personnel participated in the away mission:
- Adm. Joe Campbell, Team Leader
- January Sterling, Team Leader
- Ensign 'Bug', Team Leader & Reporting Officer
The away team joined forces with the crew of a second shuttlecraft upon arrival. All crew members reported for duty at designated assembly coordinates. No personnel were unaccounted for at any point during the operation.
Upon beaming down, the combined away team materialized in what appeared to be a lobby facility. The crew was met with a diverse multi-species gathering, with representatives from numerous systems assembled in the adjoining chamber. The team proceeded with appropriate caution, organizing into three tactical sub-teams under designated team leaders.
First Contact — Goblin Market Leadership
The away team was greeted by Jessica Lewis, identified as the leader of the local goblin population. She provided a thorough briefing on local customs and the protocols of the anticipated event. Universal translators were employed throughout all diplomatic exchanges, facilitating smooth communication with the variety of species in attendance.
Trade & Acquisition Operations
Using replicated local currency, the team engaged in barter with numerous vendors across the market. Acquisitions included a personal tardigrade, jewels, precious metals, and one juvenile tribble. All trades were conducted in accordance with away mission procurement guidelines. Acquired goods are currently held in quarantine pending full examination.
Biological Specimen Acquisition
Special dispensation was granted by market authorities for the retrieval of three lower lifeform specimens. Specimen One: a flying reptilian organism capable of expelling combustible gases (fire-breathing). Specimen Two: an amphibious organism of undetermined classification. Specimen Three: a hybrid-appearing quadruped bearing resemblance to both bovine and tribble physiologies. Specimens One and Three have been transferred to the Lifeform Rehabilitation Center; Exo-Biology has been notified. Specimen Two is being retained in the Exo-Marine Biology Lab for ongoing study.
Nutritional Safety Assessment
Food items available at the market were scanned for intestinal parasites and biological contaminants. Scans returned negative. The team consumed a limited sample quantity as a precautionary field trial. Remaining foodstuffs have been placed in quarantine alongside other acquired goods for further examination aboard ship.
The Goblin Market facility presented an organized and navigable layout, with a welcoming lobby area transitioning into a larger main market floor. The venue accommodated a substantial multi-species attendance without notable logistical difficulties. No environmental hazards or structural anomalies were detected. Atmospheric conditions were within acceptable humanoid parameters throughout the operation.
Relations with the local goblin population and market leadership were cordial and productive. Market Director Jessica Lewis demonstrated exemplary hospitality and professionalism in orienting the away team to local customs. The diverse assembly of species and vendors indicated a well-established and culturally rich event. No diplomatic incidents were recorded. The Terminus crew represented Starfleet admirably in all interactions, and the market authorities were sufficiently cooperative as to grant permission for biological specimen collection — a noteworthy diplomatic achievement.
No critical incidents to report. It is noted, however, that Specimen Three — the bovine-tribble hybrid — has prompted informal discussion among crew regarding appropriate containment classifications. This matter has been forwarded to Exo-Biology for formal taxonomy. All acquired goods and specimens remain in quarantine until clearance is granted by the Chief Medical Officer.
Personal log addendum — Ensign 'Bug': "I do hope the rest of the away team has reported to their quarters for some much needed rest. Recommendation stands."
Mission Morale: EXCEPTIONAL
Crew Cohesion: STRENGTHENED
Trade Acquisition Success Rate: 100%
Biological Specimens Secured: 3 of 3
Diplomatic Relations: FAVORABLE
Foodstuff Parasite Scan: NEGATIVE
Cultural Exchange Success: CONFIRMED
Overall Classification: Resounding Success
The operation is classified as a resounding success.
The Goblin Market is recommended for repeat visitation. The quality of trade goods, cooperative local leadership, and rich multi-species cultural exchange make it a high-value destination for future away missions. It is further recommended that crew members with exo-biology specializations be included in any follow-up team, given the volume of biological specimens now under study. Reporting officer also suggests allocating additional cargo space for future trade acquisitions.
A second away mission has been authorized.
