Recruit Holly Jordan NEWLY WELCOMED; first confirmed mission

All crew reported to the designated coordinates. No personnel were lost, misplaced, or conscripted into any renaissance-themed activity against their will.

II. Environmental Conditions

Red's Beer Garden was assessed as an excellent outdoor installation, offering open-air seating, ample room for the crew to spread out, and atmospheric conditions well suited to humanoid life. Sensors detected no hostile weather, no Romulan activity, and a remarkable absence of anyone asking the crew to keep it down.

The host staff were rated wonderful by all reviewing personnel. Hospitality protocols were executed flawlessly, and the Federation's diplomatic standing with Red's Beer Garden remains exceptionally positive.

III. Ship Business

The crew convened for the October ship meeting and conducted the business of the vessel with admirable efficiency. Senior staff addressed several agenda items, a new crew member was welcomed aboard, and no one was required to file a single form in triplicate. Subsequent analysis confirms a measurable increase in crew cohesion and a measurable decrease in the supply of tater tots.

IV. Mission Activity Log

4.1 New Crew Intake: Recruit Holly Jordan

Recruit Holly Jordan was formally welcomed into the crew complement of the USS Terminus. She is hereby entered into the official ship's manifest and cleared for all future away missions, subject to standard Federation background checks and a demonstrated willingness to hold meetings in beer gardens. Initial assessments indicate she is adapting well. She has not yet been informed about the tater tots, though she is expected to figure it out.

4.2 Dark Skies Expedition Planning

Command briefed attending crew on the upcoming Dark Skies trip, scheduled for December. Crew are advised to begin preparing for the operation, which will require warm layers and a tolerance for staring upward in the cold. Crew members who would like to join the mission should notify Lt. Lewis by stardate 2610.31. Those who do not respond will be presumed to be staying home under a warm blanket. Further details will be transmitted via standard crew communication channels once they have been finalized.

4.3 Formalizing Operational Procedures

Senior staff opened discussions on formalizing several standing operational procedures. Items under review include:

  • New Crew Onboarding and Welcoming: A consistent process for greeting new recruits, so that every new arrival is properly welcomed rather than just waved at across a crowded room.
  • Communications Distribution: Ensuring that ship announcements actually reach the crew, a task that has historically been tested by the limits of subspace.
  • Newsletter Transmission and Promotion: Standardizing how the ship newsletter is transmitted and promoted, so that it reliably reaches every crew member and is not mistaken by subspace filters for a Ferengi sales pitch.
  • Promotion Announcements: A proper means of announcing promotions with the ceremony the occasion deserves. Command recommends, at minimum, a bosun's whistle and applause that does not sound like a polite golf clap.

Staff also discussed the NCO path for ranks. Deliberations are ongoing. No procedures were formally adopted, but Command considers the exercise a successful reconnaissance of the paperwork frontier.

4.4 The Ren Fest Fall Fling Incident

During the mission, the crew detected a separate group of Renaissance Festival performers and personnel on the premises. These individuals were not affiliated with the Terminus and were conducting an independent operation to promote the Ren Fest Fall Fling, including the distribution of free tickets to the Ren Fest.

Despite the crew's best efforts, no member of the Terminus won any tickets. Vice Admiral Campbell, who appeared at the event in full uniform, was likewise denied a prize for his attire. Command has reviewed the facts and can only conclude that a grave miscarriage of justice occurred. A formal protest has been entered into the record. It has not yet been read by anyone.

Assessment: The judges, whoever they were, clearly lacked the vision to recognize a Vice Admiral when they saw one.

4.5 Cultural Exchange and Intellectual Pursuits

The crew engaged in wide-ranging discourse across several fields of study. Topics included the following:

  • Doctor Who companions: A rigorous debate on the best of them. No consensus was reached, which Command considers the only possible outcome.
  • Babylon 5: Discussion focused on Walter Koenig's startling performance as Bester. Crew noted with some delight that the man who once served as Starfleet's most dependable navigator became one of television's most unsettling telepaths.
  • Villains who do not know they are villains: A philosophical inquiry into antagonists who are convinced they are the heroes of their own stories. Crew were encouraged to confirm that no such individuals are currently present in the chain of command.
  • Costuming and sewing: A technical exchange on fabrication methods and uniform construction, and an important reminder that the crew's talents extend well beyond the replicator.

4.6 Consumable Resources Assessment

Mission personnel engaged in the systematic evaluation of Red's Beer Garden's inventory. Field reports confirmed the following:

  • The selection of beers, ciders, and other beverages was rated excellent. Crew with adventurous palates reported no shortage of options.
  • The selection of non-alcoholic options was also rated excellent, ensuring that all crew, regardless of their chosen level of refreshment, were properly supplied.
  • The hot dogs and the tater tots received strong positive assessments across multiple crew members. Command regards this as perhaps the most scientifically sound conclusion of the evening.

Overall caloric and hydration objectives were met and, in several cases, exceeded.

4.7 Crew Morale and Camaraderie

Morale readings were excellent throughout the mission. Crew engaged in high-quality conversation, genuine laughter, and the kind of camaraderie that makes one grateful to serve aboard this particular vessel. The unresolved Ren Fest injustice produced only a brief and manageable spike in outrage, which was promptly treated with additional tater tots.

V. Conclusions and Recommendations

Mission Status: SUCCESSFUL
All primary and secondary mission objectives were achieved. No crew were lost. The establishment suffered no lasting damage. The Federation's diplomatic standing with Red's Beer Garden remains outstanding, and the crew will definitely be back.

  • Red's Beer Garden is recommended for future away missions. The outdoor area, the staff, the beverage selection, and the hot dogs and the tater tots all justify the warp fuel expenditure.
  • Recruit Holly Jordan is to be formally integrated into crew communications channels and briefed on the ship's informal traditions.
  • Senior staff are to continue developing formal procedures for onboarding, communications, newsletter distribution, and promotion announcements, along with a defined NCO path for ranks.
  • All crew are encouraged to begin planning for the December Dark Skies trip.
  • Future encounters with Renaissance Festival ticket giveaways should be approached with a strategy. Command is open to suggestions, which may include a better uniform, a better pitch, or a more visible Vice Admiral.

VI. Commendations

This report formally commends the following individuals:

  • Recruit Holly Jordan: For joining the crew and bravely agreeing to attend her first meeting in a beer garden.
  • VADM Joe Campbell: For upholding the dignity of the uniform in the face of overwhelming judicial incompetence.
  • The host staff of Red's Beer Garden: For wonderful hospitality and for putting up with us.
  • The hot dogs and the tater tots: For their service.
