Assigned to uphold the principles of Starfleet and promote the ideals of exploration, camaraderie, and community engagement within the Atlanta quadrant. The crew of the Protostar-class starship USS Terminus conducts missions of goodwill, science outreach, and fandom fellowship, representing Starfleet Command in regional conventions, charity operations, and educational events. Officers are expected to embody the spirit of the Federation: curiosity, inclusion, and service to all sentient life.

The vessel's designation honors Terminus, the original settlement from which the city of Atlanta arose. Established as the endpoint, or terminus, of the Western & Atlantic railroad line, the outpost was later renamed Marthasville before receiving its final designation: Atlanta. Like the frontier settlement that grew into a thriving hub of commerce and culture, the USS Terminus stands at the meeting point of journeys, a place where the end of one voyage marks the beginning of the next.

TThe Protostar-class starship is a sleek, advanced Federation vessel originally developed at the Tars Lamora facility and designed for exploration and discovery. Measuring roughly 190 meters long with a crew capacity of six, it features a unique living construct: a sentient, programmable matter being capable of serving multiple crew functions, alongside standard phaser arrays and photon torpedo launchers. Its most remarkable feature is the experimental protostar drive, capable of propelling the ship at speeds far exceeding conventional warp by harnessing the energy of a proto-star, a power source unlike anything in standard Starfleet engineering. The class also includes holodecks, replicators, and a holographic crew training program in the form of a Starfleet advisor. Compact yet capable, the Protostar-class represents a frontier in propulsion research and serves as both a vessel of exploration and, in the right hands, a powerful symbol of Starfleet's ideals.
